Hi, I’m Paula Zi — a Romanian engineer who grew up surrounded by books.
My childhood home had an enormous library, and I spent more time lost in stories than I probably should have. Those years shaped me in ways I only fully understand now: a love for words, a curiosity about the world, and a quiet belief that stories can teach us everything.
By profession, I’m an engineer — and I genuinely love working with complex analytical equipment. There’s a particular kind of satisfaction in precision, in understanding how things work at the deepest level. But somewhere along the way, I realized I also needed to create.
So I started writing. Mostly for children — because children deserve stories that are warm, funny, imaginative, and honest. I also draw (perhaps my true calling sneaking through), which means my books tend to come with illustrations that I care about deeply.
Az Story Books is where engineering precision meets creative heart. Every book is crafted with the same attention to detail I bring to my lab work — just with a lot more color and a lot more fun.
